1.Probably a theme bug. Try changing your firefox theme.
solved? If not, try step 2. 2.Make sure the Bookmarks Toolbar is not blank, so if it is blank add a bookmark. Or the other option is to uncheck/hide it (right click on bookmarks toolbar and uncheck it) solved? If not, try step 3. 3.Change your windows theme. Try switching to default or another theme to see if that works. [This text is not mine: source]

You may also find this bug if you use a wheel mouse button to scroll pages. It will start to jump down by itself.
Usually fixed with another left mouse click inside the browser window (not on a link, obviously).

I have a similar problem. I have tried all the above things and it has not fixed my problem. I have another thread for that problem. http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=121976

Hi, I had the same problem with firefox 1.0 PR on one of my computers. Installing the flash plugin fixed it, oddly enough. Hope this helps.

Hello,
and yes, installing flash plugin solved my "jumping" problem too. Thanks for the tip.

Another thing I've found is that if you are using ThemeXP and have a particular theme set, it will cause this too. If you have StyleXP, set it back to XP default, then you should be fine. If you want to go back to your previous theme or another, you can do so as well.

I recently had that problem, and a member suggested looking in your task manager to see if you had 2 Firefox's exe running. What the problem was: I had 2 different versions running at the same time. (So now this is added as part of the solution also.)

I had this same problem and i fixed it in (surprise) a different weay than yours:
i got a random page and put it in the area below the address bar so a shortcut style icon appeared. this has completely solved the problem for me.

Horay, just solved it for me! I operate on Windows2000 (with a Microsoft Optic/Wheel mouse, if that's of any import) and after trying all the tricks exposed here (installed Flash 7, uninstalled my Theme, rebooted through it all, etc.), I was still getting the problem.
I tried an old Linux trick and deleted my profile, which is located at c:\Documents and Settings\My Username\Application Data\Mozilla\Firefox\Profiles (make sure you can see Windows hidden/system folders - the path may be slightly different on other OS). It has a strange name like "sk43Aks.blabla" - I deleted that folder. And then created a new profile when I restarted Firefox. This procedure will delete your cookies, bookmarks and settings so make sure to backup anything you might still need (in my case, the bookmarks were enough). JF

This only recently started for me, no idea why. I managed to fix it by going to View > Toolbars > Uncheck Yahoo Toolbars
For some reason, the Yahoo toolbar was acting up only today because every time I checked it, the page would start jumping up and down and when I turned it off, the problem stopped. Definitely check which toolbar is messing with the Firefox when you have this problem.
