I've used FF 0.8 and fiddled with the network.http.max* values, it worked fine. Now I uninstalled FF 0.8, deleted everything (all directories that is) and installed 0.9.3 as described. I changed the network.http.max* settings from about:config but it wouldn't take. Even if I set network.http.max-connections-per-server, network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-proxy, and network.http.max-persistent-connections-per-server all to 8 and network.http.max-connections to 32 FF only use a maximum of 2 connections at the same time to a single server. I also had some trouble resetting the values to the original values as they would keep on popping back to my modified values after a restart of FF.
Any help on this?

I've heard from several people experiencing this, but never saw it myself. All I know is that it works (again) in current branch nightlies, so you can expect it to be functional in the next official release.

The problem with the settings not being saved correctly was fixed in the nightlies.
The problem with the settings being ignored has been "fixed" but not applied to the nightlies yet.
I'm going to nominate this bug as a blocker for 1.0.
