What Features would you like to see in composer?
I still call it Phoenix
![]() Insert Clever Comment Here! CSS design page and XHTML editing tools.
GUI for editing forms. Syntax highlight (like in "View Source"). Support for "<?php" and "?>".

<a href="http://openclipart.org">Drawing Together :: The Open Clip Art Library</a> preferably a built in site manager like in dreamweaver mx

dreamweaver ? no, i think more something like <a href="http://bluefish.openoffice.nl/">Bluefish</a> and <a href="http://quanta.sourceforge.net/">Quanta Plus</a>, very nice applications, Open Source too, available under Linux.
But Composer is very close to them, it needs just some improvements. nicu
<a href="http://openclipart.org">Drawing Together :: The Open Clip Art Library</a> yes they are good programs. but like composer -- dreamweaver is a wysiwyg editor, thats why i made that comparison.

I would like to see Composer take more of a DreamWeaver look... as far as code control and management go.
Would be awesome to have a free alternative! I'd like to see a standalone version of Composer.
Am I the only person who thinks Composer sucks! I mean it is defenetly better that the crap that came with NS 4.x, where u had to use a Java Applet to edit the src- that too with no color coding or context menus!
Mozilla should allow you to change the DOCTYPE of teh page. If I want the page to comply with say the XHTML strict doctype, then I should be able to. I should be able to copy and paste the DOCTYPE definition that appears at the top of teh page. You cant do that right now. Personally, I think all the components of Moz should really be stand alone apps that intergrate well. Like Word and excell. I dont need a communicator "package". That just seems to slow down teh whole damn thing. 90% of teh time, I am just using a browser. Maybe the Mail/News the rest of the 8 odd % of the time and composer very rarely. The ability to add standard web objects such as flash (i hate flash...especially the ads that use flash), applets etc should be enabled thru GUI. Also, since we are heading toward XHTML, i think Composer should allow u to compose a page that complies with the XHTML stds...like using <br \> instead of <br> etc. And in the preview tab, I dont think the cursor should show up. Preview should not be editable. I do really appreciate teh work Mozilla guys have done with the browser though. The Mail/news and the composer seem to be somewhat neglected in a way. 1) I want to be able to see the source code, wysiwyg editor, and preview all at the same time.
2) Templates. A way to create them and a way lock parts so they cannot be edit. 3) Toggle on/off parts of css for editing. Considering how robust Mozilla is in general.. Composer right now is a joke.
Should be a wonderfully feature packed app.
That's what the future former Phoenix is for. <G> What I'd like is the ability to select simple Javascript functions like mouseover evvects and opening popup-windows (i.e. Composer has a library of these scripts and inserts them for me).

![]() Insert Clever Comment Here! Over at the "bug" forum http://www.mozillazine.org/forums/viewforum.php?f=5 some of us were discussing the HTML-Kit website.
I don't see why Composer cannot be a knock out editor (which it is not) the use of extensions to give different capablilities should make it "fairly" simple to enhance Composers capabilities. RevNomad Last edited by RevNomad on December 9th, 2002, 6:06 pm, edited 1 time in total.
