ok, I downloaded 7.01 and suddendly there was this icon at the bottom right, clicked on it and the pop up blocker opened! Whats next, hell freezes? Bill gates gives me all his money?
Great move, netscape! CNN reports active volcanos have been seen spewing ice today!
Seems obvious since AOL stopped selling pop-ups themself. I assume you still can't block normall ads?
This is the download manager as was present around 1.2beta? (Don't know if it made a return in the trunk yet as I'm sticking with the 1.2 branch for now - that is, until I can't stand waiting for bayesian filters anymore.)
If so why are you surprised about that? I think from reading the various bugs on its implementation it was pretty clear Netscape was pushing that manager and wanted it for N7; major shame this came after the release of Netscape 7 of course - now they're going to have to do a lot of marketing to get reviewers to notice this change. (I wonder what excuse CNet and the like will now use to still rate it with a 7...) Makes it a hell of a lot easier for me to convince people to use a Mozilla-based browser though (beyond the geek-crowd which I'm recommending Mozilla itself to anyway).
Euhm, I think you'll notice this topic is about pop-up blocking, not the download manager. Or am I missing something? Where is 7.01?
Is this the 7.01PR or did you get ahold of 7.01 final?
Netscape 7.01 Setup
after installation About Page says Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.0.2) Gecko/20021120 Netscape/7.01
Netscape 7.01 is not out yet. Anyone who claims to be using it is probably imagining things. They may think that they're using 7.01 but they're really just using whatever Netscape chooses to test their FTP servers with. Alex
A Netscape 7 with built-in pop-up blocking already exists: 'Netscape 7.0 compact'.
see: http://www.hmetzger.de/net7comp.html I don't think of it as 7.01 Final, but I did get the build.
It does indeed include popup ad killing by default. ![]() Also of note, the Linux full installer didn't include Java.
well, I know it may not be the final version netscape releases, but I am surely not imaging things when the about screen tells me I am using 7.01... I wanted to download the setup.exe file (http://ftp.netscape.com/pub/netscape7/e ... SSetup.exe) but I receive the following message:
Forbidden You don't have permission to access /pub/netscape7/english/7.01/windows/win32/NSSetup.exe on this server. Why? Have the guy of Netscape blocked the server? WTF I didnt even know netscape 7.01 was out
PARTY ![]() I still call it Phoenix
![]() Insert Clever Comment Here! It's not out, and the links have been made inaccessible - which is what they were supposed to be in the first place.
