My first builds are done, which should emulate powerbook's builds, except on more CPUs. I'll post them here for the moment, until we get a coherent plan together for the team concept, or until that falls flat and I just start a new semi-regular thread here.

G3:
<a href="http://www.furbism.com/firefoxmac/builds/G3/FX-G3-2005.07.18.dmg">FX-G3-2005.07.18.dmg</a>
G4 (7400,older):
<a href="http://www.furbism.com/firefoxmac/builds/7400/FX-7400-2005.07.18.dmg">FX-7400-2005.07.18.dmg</a>
G4 (7450,newer):
<a href="http://www.furbism.com/firefoxmac/builds/7450/FX-7450-2005.07.18.dmg">FX-7450-2005.07.18.dmg</a>
G5:
<a href="http://www.furbism.com/firefoxmac/builds/G5/FX-G5-2005.07.18.dmg">FX-G5-2005.07.18.dmg</a>

Hopefully they work as well as powerbook's builds always have, but let me know if there are any glaring issues, as I only tested the 7450 build on my laptop, which seems to be running ok. Starting tonight, I'm going to set up an automated cron build process and see how it works out. If it seems to work, then I'll let my G5 crank out builds for a while and see how that goes, and try to get a rudimentary web page up as soon as I can.

elfurbe,
the 7450 build works great for me. Thanks a lot for picking up the effort. Did you build it any differently then powerbook's builds that we're used to? Can't wait for the website and everything else to be setup!!

elfurbe. Great work!

I like your idea about hooking up with one or more builders, then create a website for all builds.
Seems like three builder could be a good choice.
1. Release builds (version 1.0.6, 1.1 etc.)
2. Nightly trunk builds, optimized for size (-Os).
3. Nightly trunk build, optimized for speed (-O3).

Looks like ozjason are willing to join/create a build team, so you are already on the right track.
Go, go, go.... \:D/

I think the only difference between my mozconfig and powerbook's is I have --disable-pedantic in there, which I picked up from somewhere during my travels, and I believe just makes GCC complain less, but shouldn't effect the generated code. I'm always up for suggestions though, so if anyone has any thoughts on config options to make our Mac community builds rock moreso than before (besides the -Os vs -O3 debate...:D) let me know, I'm open to suggestions. Once the website is up, I'll make sure that a copy of my .mozconfig and my modified build script are posted, and I might entertain the notion of making a nice downloadable package that would allow people to quickly set up their own Firefox build environment on their personal machines. Who knows. I'm glad these builds seem to be passing cursory testing though.

I'm currently building G5 optimized nightlies at http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=256517 and would be happy to participate in this joint venture so we are not unnecessarily duplicating each other's efforts and confusing users.

Should we start a new thread for this?

Yes, I think thats a good idea.
Then its easier for the users to track what your plans, and I can link to the thread for further information about the latest builds.

bummer :(
I'm really sad to hear you're stopping your FX work, powerbook... I'm one of those thousands of users who have been faithfully using your FX builds since I got a Mac  So, first of all, a BIG THANK YOU for your work and your dedication to the cause. Image Image Image The most important thing is that you keep enjoying what you do so I wish you lots of fun with Camino.

and I trust ozjason and all the other enthusiasts to keep the FX flame glowing in the Mac world... ozjason, I've already tried your builds as well and they're very good. Image

So thanks again and all the best for you, powerbook. and long live ozjason and his group. \:D/ :D :D Image

Has anyone else had a hard time getting their otherwise working firefox profile from DeerPark to work in a normal firefox build?
