Tabberwocky. tab browsing reimagined.

Tabberwocky is a light, fast tab browsing extension with a size of only 25KB (excluding localizations)!

Find out more here: Tabberwocky @ addons.mozilla.org
Get the latest version here: Tabberwocky 1.1 (compatible with Firefox 3.5 - 3.7a1pre)

Compatibility with the Firefox 3.7 trunk builds is not guaranteed simply because I have not tested extensively with those versions. If you are using Tabberwocky on those dev builds, please let me know how well it works. Thank you!

Please read through the thread before asking a question or making a request that someone else has already made.

Features and options include:
+ Duplicate Tab, Protect Tab, Lock Tab (menu items and keyboard shortcuts)
+ Tab Progress Bars
+ Multiple-Row Tab Bar
+ Open in new tabs from Bookmarks, History, URL Bar, and/or Search Bar
+ Open Selected Links in New Tabs
+ Retain tab history when opening links in new tabs
+ Show/Hide New Tab button and Close Tab buttons
+ Highlight unread tabs
+ Set minimum/maximum tab width
+ Close tabs by double-clicking on them
+ Tab clicking options
+ Open tabs to the right of current tab (links only option available for Firefox 3.6+)
+ Switch to last selected tab or tab on the left when closing a tab
+ Menu items for opening links in foreground/background tabs
+ Open script-generated windows in tabs instead
+ and more!

Please let me know of any bugs or incompatibilities!
If you notice any problems, first check to see if you have other tab browsing extensions that might conflict or overlap in features with Tabberwocky. Try disabling either Tabberwocky or those extensions to see which extension is causing the problem.

(For those who remember, Tabberwocky is indeed the successor to superT. ;) )

Browse better with Tabberwocky! :D

Hey thanks for fixing the 'reuse blank tabs' bug so quickly. Appreciate it.

No problem. Thanks for using and testing Tabberwocky! :)
A user told me that Tabberwocky does in fact on the trunk builds, so I upped the max version to 3.7a1pre.
If you try it out on the trunk builds, please let me know how it goes. 8-)

Is there a way to make tabs opened by middle-clicking links (or middle-clicking the back/forward buttons) duplicates of the current tab? (e.g., I'm browsing Wikipedia and middle-click a link to an article. Now if I switch to the freshly created tab, it has duplicated the history from my previous browsing.)

That would really be great feature. There is a small addon which you could use in the meantime. https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/1859

Its a 2 kb addon, so am sure the implementation is pretty simple, and could possibly be built into Tabberwocky without really increasing its size.

In Tabberwocky options, under Menu section, do you have 'Open in New Tab -> URL Bar' checked? This option needs to be checked to open in New Tab.

'Open in New Tab' -> Bookmarks/History, will open bookmarks and history from your sidebar, library, bookmarks toolbar etc., in the New Tab.

I have all that check, but when I type something in the urlbar what comes up from the drop down list from my bookmarks when click opens still in the same tab.

Try it type something you know you have bookmarked in your urlbar then when is found click on it and see what happens.

sleek! feel free to make a custom build of tabberwocky with that as your options layout, but for now there are two reasons why i prefer the current layout:
1. I prefer to avoid including images (besides an extension icon) in the xpi file for tabberwocky because it greatly increases the file size, and this layout would require that i create and include an image for the 'tab bar' pane in the options window.
2. i prefer to keep the 'advanced' options in a separate pane, because these options can conflict with themes and other addons, while the other options have little or no chance of incompatibility.

by the way, whoever would like to create an icon for Tabberwocky, please submit it to me (via this thread or any method). it could be chosen as the official extension icon!

Well... only if I knew coding could I have created a custom build :)

But your points are valid, and am happy that you want to keep it small (not include images etc.)...so maybe you could keep the current option layout, but change the position/wordings of the options a bit... for example... the 'Open New Tabs from' option really belongs to the 'Tabs' section and not 'Menu'... and so on. And actually if you looked closely, I had also added a few options which are currently not a feature in this extension.... for example.. Open new tabs to the right of current tab... for all/only for links from current. So in a way a hidden feature request... but again, I am as much in favor of keeping this extension small and simple, so if it adds any bloat, please reject my requests :)

By the way just checked... it looks like 'Open links from current Tab -> to right of current Tab' has been implemented in 3.6b1 by default.

I had a different experience here... for me it always opens in a New Tab if I select a URL using 'Enter' keyboard button. But if I 'Mouse Click' one of the results in the awesomebar dropdown, it opens in the same tab. So 'Mouse Click' seems to be the culprit here.

You are right! I just try it and the problem is mouse click. So can you fix it?
