User Profile Screw up!! Help
Hey guys -
I'll admit, I downloaded Firefox and well, obviously didn't read everything.
Today, a strange box popped up. It was the Profile User box. It already had default listed and I just hit okay. It gave me an error message that said it was already in use. So, stupid me created a new one. Welp, lost all my info, bookmarks and everything! ACK! So, me being my usual stupid/smart self starting reading FAQ and stuff. Found the page on changing profiles. Okay, did it. Tried to go back to default, got the same error message, "Already in use." So, I changed the name of the default. That didn't work either.
I really WANT/NEED to use my default browser. HELP!! Puh - lease!

When that "Profile User Box" popped up, did you try to Create a New Profile, and then continue until you see "Choose Folder"?
Your default folder should be located somewhere under the Windows directory, possibly under "Application Data....."
Also, were there any FF windows opens? FF should be totally closed (except for the Profile Manager.)

Hey -
It didn't ask me to choose a folder. I just clicked finish.
I don't want my NEW profile browser though.
I want my old one.
But it says that it's already in use.
Is there any way to go back to using my default browser??

I'm sorry. I'm confused. I'm using the NEW profile now already. So I'm there.
I know how to find both of them. I just want to switch back to my default brower. I changed the name (and can find it) but it still gives me the error message that it is already in use.
I'm sorry!! I don't mean to be dense, but maybe I'm not understanding??
Thank you though for trying to help me!
Shel
BTW - when I created the new profile (because it wouldn't let me select default) I had gone in and closed all of the FF browsers...

Hey Jim -
Your suggestion worked like a charm! It'd be cool if they added that tip on the FAQ page - that way you guys wouldn't have to put up with whining women like me...

ACK! I guess I need to start archiving too. Good suggestion. I'd hate to lose all my bookmarks and stuff. I use them for work! Okay, now off to read the FAQ's about archiving... LOL
Bless you all!
