Bugzilla product, component and status reorganization needed

Post by netdragon »

There are many examples of bugs that don't really seem to have a valid component to put them in. An example is: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=257987 in which it's obvious it didn't belong in Talkback, but it was unknown where it should be put since he mentioned he wanted this fixed in all applications.

Lots of bugs require core fixes and also UI fixes in both Firefox and Seamonkey or Thunderbird and Mailnes, and new bugs are filed, and fixed for both the suite and Thunderbird/Seamonkey, and then much older bugs are questionably marked as duplicate. Sometimes it's questionable whether it's a duplicate because the bugs are for different products. Example: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=61635

There should be a new status for bugs that are fixed in another bug, but aren't duplicate. There are numerous other examples, and it's become really confusing not only to people resolving bugs, but also people fixing them. It seems like everyone has their own rules and therefore there's a lack of consistency.

Another example: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=76197#c37

See a bug I filed on this issue: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=247730

Free yourself from the illusion. The heart of a dragon is pure love, honor and truth. The dragon's power is meant to protect the weak and uphold love and honor.
