Regarding Branch/Trunk merging - on 20050107 Mscott wrote:
I hope to spend the next couple weeks making the trunk "catch up" with the 1.0 release changes. Once that happens I'll bump the version string on the trunk from 0.6 to something more appropriate. As long as you see the 0.6 version string you can safely assume the trunk is still inferior.
These are changes between 2005-01-27 and now
Both fixes for Core and Thunderbird are included
If you find problems/bugs:
- Post them in this thread
- Properly describe the problem
- Include the url where you have the problem (if this is the case)
- Include the "about mozilla thunderbird" information (under the help button)
- Installer build or .zip version?
- Does a new profile fix the problem?
- Include the list of extensions you have installed (preferably none to start with)
This makes it a lot easier for others to duplicate your problem. Fixes and patches: TRUNK #000000 Port missing theme and extension chrome prefs from aviary to the trunk TRUNK #000000 Convert CR-LF and CR linebreaks to LF

Is it rigth that RSS feeds don't work in this release? (because the thrunk must still be made insync with the 1.0 branch)
Because at myplace it will not get new messages for the rss feed it never checks for it.
Also if i go back to the 1.0 build then the RSS feeds gets new messages again but when i restart thunderbird it gets all the messages the current feeds have even the onces i already have so i get a lot of double entries...
Any fix for this?
How can i completely reinit the RSS s upport? What can i throw away without touching the rest?
Als is it possible to sort the accounts? I don't see any possiblity do do that and my accounts did grow a little bit..

20050130 runs good, however here is another 'entity' error that's been here since the merge.

Has to be a Trunk problem as that feature is working fine with the Avairy 20050130 build I am using.

Absolutely it's just a Trunk problem. A remnant from the aviary landing.
Unless I have this all wrong..Tbird 1.1 will be developed from the trunk, which will give it all the capability of 1.0 plus certain performance enhancements that are in the trunk core code only.
I don't see any real value in testing Branch builds these days, because of that fact.
Granted, the builds are more risky, especially since some devs are not real quick to correct some code changes that cause side effects. But I think that's all the more reason to test Trunk builds over Branch builds. To each his own though.

No checkins for Thunderbird so I've skipped one day. Avairy Win32 zip is working very well.
Last checkin in Aviary branch was on 20050120, so looks like Aviary branch is frozen. Does it makes sense to download new build?

Oh I am not testing branch builds just using it for day to day use.
The trunk I am installing for the testing portion.
With FF v1.1 held back I hope to see TB released without waiting for FF to catch up so they can be released in tandem.

Unghost,
I just know the Aviary Branch has a new build up every day so I have been grabbing them and installing it. Not sure what if anything is being done with it on a day to day basis. I have gotten sloppy lately. Winter blahs.

On the other hand, plenty of things happened in the Trunk builds, since they are more tightly bound to the Suite mail app. For instance, certain 'maito' url functions were fixed, and some core component modules were improved.

I have gotten crashes in the last few version of the latest-trunk build. It usually happen just after sending a message.
The message got sent correctly and thunderbird crashes after it got finish sending. Has anybody seen that problem ?

I use the zip trunk builds. and have seen no crashes running the 0126, 0129, and 0130 builds. About the only unusual thing that I have seen is a 'false indication' of a dropped connection. This seems to happen after long periods of 'no activity' Most of my usage is with newsgroups, not a heck of a lot of Email, but no crashes whatsoever here.

But is the zip and win32-installer supposed to be different just on the packaging ? Or are they compiled from different base code. I am just relying on the installer to add shortcuts at install time and cleanup the registries on uninstall so that I don't have to go into regedit a do a manual cleanup.
[edit]
I have just installed the zip and it also crashes. But good news, I have found what in my configuration was making it crash on send mail: it was my charamel-0.92 theme that is somehow incompatible with the latest trunk build. So for now I have reverted back to using the default theme.
