Minimize to tray... try this

Post by dfx »

I've created a tiny tool for minimizing Thunderbird to the system tray (Windows only). Everyone who is interested is encouraged to give it a try...

WFM too. Thank you! This should cut down on the insane amount of posting about this topic... Well, except for maybe a few Linux and OS X users, that is. Be sure to submit this to the Thunderbird extensions page if you haven't already.

Looks great! If I might request an improvement, I would like to see the icon in the systray only when I minimize. Its a little thing, but would be nice if it can be done :-)

Great tool, many thanx!

Additionally, it would be very usable if ThunderTray will minimize Tbird even if user "closing" it - alt_f4 or other way.
Furthermore there is already "Close Thunderbird" control under Thundertray icon.

Thanks a bunch for making this available to the public. I was really disappointed when I found that Thunderbird didn't have a feature enabling one to minimize TB to the tray. I'd still like to see it built into TB in the near future. But for now, I'll be using Thunder Tray.

Thanks again.

Can we ask you (dfx) why the license is not some sort of open source?

Thanks for the app, it's just that since Thunderbird is MPL (Mozilla) it would go down better with the users/the community if it was also open source.

No particular reason... just too much of a hassle at this point I guess. I'll probably donate it to the world once it hits 1.0, which shouldn't be too long from now.

Hmm, just remembered that I actually use some pieces of code which I can't release period (nothing too spectacular though). Oh, well, that could easily be replaced.
