My Device: Dell Axim X50v
OS: Windows Mobile 2003 SE

I downloaded the zip file and extracted the "wince" directory and copied the directory, via Activesync, to the Built-In Storage.

Upon trying to run the application, I got the following error:
"Cannot open 'minimo'. A critical component is either missing or cannot start because program memory is unavailable. Tap Start > Settings > System tab > Memory, stop programs that did not automatically stop, and try again."

How much memory does Minimo require? I've got 25.70mb Main Memory available.

Thanks.

On my x50v, i have the same problem, minimo 0.005 is great, works well in ozvga mode and everything, but it sometimes will close unexpectedly. .005 is the last version to work. i have all the newer version in BIS and SD with only 2.3 mb of main memory in use (nothing installed after a hard reset on ROM version A04 and A05) i try adjusting the memory slider to have 55 mb of main memory allocated, still give the message (same for .006-.008)
cannot open "minimo'. A critical component is either missing or cannot start because program memory is unavailable. .. same message as 'namuna' has.
What's the deal?

I dont believe doug T, the creator of Minimo, has worked out why certain devices cannot run minimo. The XV6600 PPC phone from verizon wireless also cannot run minimo with the same errors. The last I have heard he was working on aquiring a device to resolve the issue. Sorry its not resolved in this version yet.

No luck on the Toshiba e800, either ... I've got about 50 meg available of memory, but no go. Tried putting the files on a CF card, SD card, main memory, and so on. No luck. Version .007 worked fine.

It seems that, on my device at least, every other release simply won't run...

I should note that I am using windows 2003SE and the device is a VGA device.

Doug has posted some info on his blog as to why Minimo doesnt work (at the moment) on the Axims, it's worth a read if anyone knows someone who could help doug out (any contacts at Dell etc).

Boy I'm too slow on this forum. Dave88 has beat me to it. Doug is looking for some help from dell if anyone has the contacts.
Here's a link to the blog: http://weblogs.mozillazine.org/dougt/ar ... 08927.html

Also I'm going to create a new thread to just hold device problem lists in, keeping the discussion going in this or other threads.

Is anyone still running ROM A02 on a 50 or 50v? We have some reports of success on a device running the older ROM.

Your the first I've heard. Doug is getting some WM5.0 devices to begin testing builds on and investigating how much work it would take to support that while still supporting current (and more used) versions.

I think I can say that no x50v has run minimo since a way earlier release so it may not be a wm5 that causes it not to run.

#Furiousurious:

My latest wrinkle with the x50v running Minimo 10, with WM2005 upgrade installed. So you're not confused, problems occur having nothing to do with minimo. The combination of the x50v on WM2005 runs minimo, but the upgrade has other issues, admitted to by Dell. The upgrade alone on this machine
causes intalled memory cards to be not recognized after being off for a while. Soft reset brings cards back, again, for a while. Then at times it won't start up at all or turns on to a blank lit screen. Soft reset fixes this too for a while. Dell has reported the issues to MS. They say a fix should be coming soon. None of this has anything to do with running minimo or not. A downgrade rom back to WM2003 is now available
at Dell support. The machine will run good then but back to square one, it won't run minimo on 2003. Many have reported the same symptoms to Dell after installing WM2005, fact.
Seeing is believing

I'm aware of issues w/ WM5 on the 50v. Doug and myself are working to find a way to get Minimo to start on the 50v w/ WM2003.
