Charamel is back for Firefox v.2.0

Post by pfaoro »

My favorite for a long time, I had to stop using Charamel due to a lack of updates. For no particular reason I decided this morning to check the site again (http://members.shaw.ca/lucx/) and found it was back and working perfectly! I don't know if it works with Thunderbird (though I imagine it does) which I had to stop using but the Firefox version is as beautiful as ever

Is there any hope that this theme will get an update for FF3.

I really miss charamel.

It's not even finished for FF or TB 2.0 yet - missing all the fine tuning still.

I haven't given up yet though - keep checking for updates every week.
Since FF 3.0 seems to become a pretty cool browser i keep my hopes
up that lucx will step out of the shadows once again :p

Does anyone know whether lucx will update Charamel for FF3 or not?

I'm pretty sure he stopped development on it before Firefox 2 got released, so if it gets updated for Firefox 3 someone else will have to pick up the ball on it.

Upon further Googling I couldn't find the notice that lucx was ending development on it, but I did see that it did get updated it for Firefox 3. I miss it, too, but I've long considered it a dead theme and looked for others to use.
Proud Ubuntu Intrepid/Mac4Lin user, and Firefox 3 has gotten me to using Epiphany as my default browser so I check these forums a lot less often than I used to.

I just installed the RC1 of Sharebird's Silvermel and find it every bit as good as the original charamel on which it is based:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/7517

This is a truly beautiful theme and is getting nothing but 5 star, rave reviews over at the addon site. For me, it is the answer for everyone waiting for the return of charamel. The author of the original icons has apparently made them available to Sharebird to create this theme. I am using it on Firefox 3, and have not yet tried it on Thunderbird, but the reviews are strong for both applications.

reviews are meaningless, since they're moderated/preselected/censored;
once a 5-star lobby is established, you have some fine trouble getting through with anything below

@Meow, I'm not sure why you think that. I know for a fact that negative reviews are accepted as well as positive. Have you had reviews submitted then censored?

Silvermel is just a mod from Charamel. Every beautiful thing at it is Charamel. Please see it as a "daltonism" love declaration to Charamel...

I'm also wanting and waiting a new version from Charamel. But remember that all of us are human beings, having issues with family, jobs... Make a theme is something that demands a lot of time and energie. Just be patient... ;-)
