hi
why on http://www.mozilla.org/products/thunder ... beta2.html is shown the same changelog of Thunderbird 1.5 Beta 1 ???
October 8th, 2005, 2:13 am
That's not a changelog (look at the title of the page).
Release notes contain all the new features worth mentioning in the Thunderbird 1.5 release and because we are in the beta state, there are no new features (but the release notes always mention features that were developed in one release cycle - e.g. 1.5 release cycle - and not just the difference between two releases -- changelog is for that). If you look at the "known issues" section, you'll see that the page was modified for the beta2 release. The Rumbling Edge blog will probably publish an unofficial beta 2 changelog or you can check the differences between beta 1 and beta 2 in bugzilla. I like chickens. Lots of them. Every day.

The changelog on Rumbling Edge is not yet out, but will be available here:

It's been a few days since the release of Beta 2. I'm just checking if I have to worry about getting the Beta 2 update to my Beta 1 installation through the auto updater built into the Beta 1 release? Any progress on that? The new updating feature is really beautiful btw.. tiny file for updating.. and it makes a lot more sense than what it used to be like.. namely the app downloading the whole, normal setup file and launching it. Great work, guys

I'll check on the update issue today at work.

I noticed the following issue in 1.5 Beta 1, and upon installing 1.5 Beta 2, noticed that it persists. It's similar to https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=306238 but not quite the same. To me it seems like a bug, but if it's the intended behavior, someone please let me know.
[edit]This behavior did not occur in TB 1.0.7[/edit] Issue: no dropdown to choose alternate email addresses for contacts version 1.5 Beta 2 (20051006) on WinXP Steps to reproduce: 1) Create an address book entry for Joe Smith with email Joe1@joe.com and additional email Joe2@joe.com. 2) Compose a new message and type "joe" (without the quotes, of course) in the to: line. Expected result: dropdown allowing choice of both email addresses. [edit]ths is how TB 1.0.7 functions[/edit] Actual result: TB assumes you want Joe1@joe.com However, if you create a second address book entry for Joe Smith with an email address of Joe3@joe.com, the autocomplete dropdown seems to work normally, showing all three addresses. Should I have to add a new addressbook entry with the same name (and a third address) in order to be able to get a dropdown showing a contact's primary and secondary email addresses? Thanks.

Still no auto-update... oddly, with Firefox, it only took ONE SINGLE DAY for the auto update from B1 to B2 to work. For TB, it's already been like 4 days, and still no auto update. I'm not trying to whine, just saying. I never saw the changelog to understand what improved in B2 over B1 anyway...

Just as these Betas are a chance for more people to find and report bugs for the final release, I hope Mozilla.org considers this a bug. Bug ####: Need more than one build person for major releases. Either that or... Bug ####: Need more hours in the day. If there's anything we can do to help get it out quicker, just say the word.
