This has plagued Firefox since the beginning. People were saying it was fixed in deer park and now I'm running 1.5 RC3 and its still a problem. What can I do to help the dev team fix this bug?

Would you care to go into a bit more detail, like steps to reproduce the issue? I have no problems with copy/paste.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051125 Firefox/1.5 ID:2005112503

First off it is totally random and happens no matter what I am copying and pasting. But, I do notice it more when I copy text out of a textbox. As in right now as I am typing this reply, I went up to the address bar and hit "CTRL-X" for cut. When I hit "CTRL-V" to paste the the URL into notepad, nothing happens. If I right-click and copy (or cut) the URL I still am not able to paste into notepad. It doesn't matter what program I am trying to paste into.

I have seen this problem on multiple computers with different configurations and different extensions. All machines are Windows XP Professional running 1.5 RC3. Another co-worker has experienced the same thing.

Check your system, do you have "new.net" Junkware on your system? It has been known to affect copy/paste.
Read here:

I just used the sequence of Ctrl+L to jump to URL Bar, Ctrl+X, had to go to Start->accessories->notepad
to open the 'pad', then typed Ctrl+v to paste, all went smooth.

The copy and paste problem happens when i paste into Blogger "Compose" text box.

When i paste into blogger using "Edit HTML", it pastes correctly.

Any ideas?

Does anyone else manage to reproduce the same thing.

Another thing,

None of the search engines appear on the right next to the "Go" button.

There should be Google, Yahoo etc, however none is appearing.

Thanks in advance

I have a problem with copy and paste in Firedox 1.5, 1.07 worked correctly. Right Click a link and choose "Copy link location", open new tab or editor and nothing to be pasted. Any ideas? No extensions installed!
Thanks in advance

I am also having difficulty copying and pasting when composing an email in GMAIL. I am unable to 'right-click' to get the copy and paste options. However, I am able to do this in IE. I also have various problems copying text from an email properly. It appears as though copying is completely eliminated....even using the copy buttons on the toolbar, or Ctl-C. The latter problem seems to be random, yet the former problem happens every time I compose an email in GMAIL. I am using Firefox 1.5.

IE works well every time, so I only encounter these problems in FireFox. I use GMAIL quite often, so I am forced to use IE until I can resolve the problem.

Any ideas?

I think the mime types on the clipboard are not quite right. I copy text in an HTML page in firefox with ctrl-c. If I then paste into notepad I get the text I copied. However if I paste into a java application (e.g. JEdit) all that pastes is a recently visited URL, not the text I selected. This is 100% of the time, easy to reproduce. I am using:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.8) Gecko/20051111 Firefox/1.5

dhk42:
This is my experience. If I paste text from a web page in Firefox into an Outlook email I get the url of the page I copied from pasted as an attachment. However, the text is present on the clipboard because I can paste it into an editor.
Firefox didn't always do this. I can't be certain when it did change but I suspect it was when I upgraded to 1.5beta.

I am having the same problem
Firefox 1.5
WinXP Home SP-2
Outlook 2000 SP-3

If I highlight a text selection from a website in Firefox 1.5 and COPY it,
when I attempt to PASTE the selection into Outlook, it creates
an ATTACHMENT to the email msg instead of pasting the text into the msg.

However,
If I open the same page in IE and COPY the SAME selection,
when I paste into Outlook, it acts normally, pasting the copied text, without creating
the attachment.

And however,
I can paste the Firefox copy into something else (like a text editor and Word 2000), just not into Outlook.

I see there are other threads addressing this issue.
Here is a key factor:
This happens if Outlook is set to send PLAIN TEXT messages.
This does not happen if Outlook is set to send HTML messages.

This problem with blogger JUST started on my machine. I am using Mac OS X 1.3.9 and FF 1.5 and it was working normally, but now COPY and PASTE don't work properly when selected from the KEYBOARD. When using the MENU they work.

Further, if I edit an existing post, it behaves as if INSERT is off and new charatcers OVERTYPE existing text.
