Hi,
Does anyone have the E.T.A on 1.5
Thank you.
Micro$oft Insecure Exploiter is bad. It has many security issues, plus the ActiveX technology causes unauthorised software installations and spreading of worms. And it is so old. And is obsloete.

Generally, the Thunderbird people wait a couple of days after the official Firefox release before putting out their stuff (I'm guessing that's why there hasn't been a thread posted for any 20051130 branch).

I guess there may not be a release canditate 2 for thunderbird? I'm excited about in-line spell checking in 1.5!

I'm pretty sure the plan is to release Thunderbird 1.5 Release Candidate 2, after Firefox 1.5 final is out. In other words, don't expect Thunderbird 1.5 to be released soon.

If you're impatiently waiting for 1.5, why not install RC1 ? I've been using it since it was released and it's been very happy for me. (In-line spell checking works very nicely.)

And I seem to remember hearing plans for RC2 as well, but Tb1.0 was released a month after Fx1.0, so you probably won't see Tb1.5 until around January. (I can't imagine them putting together a release during the holidays.)

But RC1 is working great, so why wait?

At the earliest I mean the very earilest I would guess that tb 1.5 would be released around the end of December. At the lastest would be sometime in January.

I'd suggest using RC1 for now.

Once we finish up firefox 1.5 we'll sit down and figure out our QA and release resources for when we can get a 1.5 final out for Thunderbird. I'm hopeful it could be before the holidays but then again the holidays aren't that far away!

I spoke too soon:

http://forums.mozillazine.org/viewtopic.php?t=347145

A check of this web site reveals (at the top) that there are two more release candidates planned for Thunderbird, which means the official TB 1.5 debut will be awhile off. For me, that means "doing the nightly thing" until then.

Like other people have suggested, I'd tell you to go for TB 1.5 RC1. It's pretty damn stable.

RC1 is working great! I've got it on one PC with Windows XP and another with Winodws Me - no problems at all.

For those of you anxious for 1.5 final, you can jump to the bits that will hopefully be RC2 and start using those and giving feedback:

Thanks for the suggestion - I've downloaded the new build and so far, no problems. What a great process this is - I am quite impressed with all involved!

I've tried 1.5RC1 and have switched back to 1.5 Beta 2. I like having Plaxo integrate my address book with my online contacts, automatically synching them between my home and work computers and also that Plaxo updates my address book whenever a mutual contact who is also a Plaxo member changes any of his/her own info. The Plaxo plugin works fine with 1.5 Beta 2 when compatibility is overridden, but does not work with 1.5RC1. I don't think that Plaxo will even begin to update their plugin until after 1.5 final is released, so I'll be sticking with 1.5 Beta 2 for a good while longer.

I would like to know this too. As a lot of the Firefox 1.5 (different languages) have been released. Although still waiting for British English one to come out.
