Remove item from list of extensions

After installing Firefox 1.5 I had trouble installing the copy_url plus extension. I now have it installed, but I also have a second entry on my list of extensions (Tools|Extensions) with the entire filename: copy_url+-1.3.2-fx+mz.xpi. When I highlight this all the options dim so I cannot remove it. I've done text searches of all the files in the mozilla folders, but I can't find where it is coming from.
Is there anyway I can remove a defunct/invalid entry from the Extensions list?

Try and remove it from Firefox SafeMode: C:\Program Files\Mozilla\Firefox SafeMode
Extensions are in your working Profile under: Docs&Settings\applications\mozilla...keep drilling down You might be able to delete the dup from there. If you can't find any dup's then try: deleting the extensions.rdf file with Firefox closed, it will be rebuilt when you restart Firefox.

Another solution might be to un-install the copy that is working then see if the first one will highlight to get at the un-install option.
Has worked for me the few times I had 2 copies of an extension. Ed - ASUS eeePC 900 20GB SSHD 1GHz DDR2 - Xandros -

I couldn't find the duplicate.
I deleted the extensions.rdf but it did not solve the problem. (Also, extensions.rdf was never rebuilt.) Tried uninstalling but the entry persists. Try reinstalling in the hope that the entries would integrate - that didn't work either. This is what's stuck: Open link in... 1.4 Firefox is checking for a compatibility update to Open link in... Greyed out with no context menu options. Any other suggestions, please?

Deleting extensions.rdf worked this time for me. I also rebooted just in case that would help prevent rebuilding the file from cached information.

Well, I just backed up my bookmarks, uninstalled FF1.5, deleted the Mozilla folder in C:\Documents and Settings\username\Application Data\Mozilla folder and reinstalled, creating a brand new profile. Then reinstalled my extensions manually. Everything fine now.
