For download and via software update on all three platforms and for the various locales.

You can download the binaries from:
Windows
Linux
Mac OS X

For other locales, see:
http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/all.html.

Many thanks to everyone who participated in making Thunderbird 1.5.0.2. That includes contributors, testers and folks who kept asking questions in the forums. We wouldn't have been able to release 1.5.0.2 without you!

We are looking forward to working with all of you on Thunderbird 2.0 and beyond.

Thank you,
-Team Thunderbird

TB 1.5 doesn't recognize my old setting for attachments.
I get the box for open or save. It is coming up Save, and the remember this box is greyed out(imagine my shock).
1.0.7 was always Open with, and the image viewer would come up.

So, how do I get it back to the way 1.0.7 was? I don't want to have to click the damned radio button to Open With for every attachment in a newsgroup that has hundreds of postings, and a lot of them are attachments (by unwise users!) and not inline viewable images.

1.5 is mostly good. It is faster than 1.0.7.
But these type of regressions are a pain in the ass.

No, I didn't test the betas and RC's! So I can't say what was going on with them regarding this.

Downloaded the installer, installed 1.5. It simply won't start - I get some disk activity, thunderbird.exe shows up briefly in the Processes tab of Task Manager, then nothing. Rebooted, tried reinstalling, no help. Downloaded the 1.0.7 installer, reinstalled that version, everything is back to normal.

Ideas? Win XP Home SP2, up to date (including this week's patches). Have been running Thunderbird here since 1.0, always up to date (but never a nightly or even a beta).

[Sigh - of course the problem was that I failed to uninstall 1.0.7 first.]

Windows

I just wonder why it still says "version 1.5 (20051201)" when I look into 'Help - About Thunderbird'. And yes, I downloaded the latest version from /pub/mozilla.org/thunderbird/releases/1.5

The 1.5 release has this build id. It was actually ready by this date (December 1st), but some tests needed to be run, and because of that mscott only released RC2 (which has the same build id) before the holidays. No major issues were found, so you can use it today as the final Thunderbird 1.5 release. :)

The 1/6 build has several branch fixes, is it because of possible regressions that it didn't become the milestone?

Not all branch fixes are the same. A "branch" fix (see bugs with the keyword "fixed1.8.1") is checked in on the 1.8.1 branch (Thunderbird 2.0 will come from this branch). A "1.8.0.1 branch" fix (see bugs with "fixed1.8.0.1") is checked in on the 1.8.0.1 branch (Thunderbird 1.5.x releases will come from this branch and any other 1.8.0.x branches).

If the resgressions were not too serious, then they will wait for the follow-up 1.5.x release.

Thanks alot! this is really a great app!

In my eyes, almost everything work "perfect", so my dream now would be that all TB dev's refocused on Lightning :)
But anyway I have to remind myself; this is a free app, and I have noe reason to complain.
So peace out, and have a nice day!

When OpenPGP signatures will be available?
For Thunderbird 1.0.7 they are presented, for 1.5 I can't find them.

Images that scroll below the bottom of the viewing area turn the page partially or completely dark, when going to the next email or news post, depending on how far below, and if they were scrolled to see what is at the bottom.

This kind of thing went away with Netscape email in version 4.5 or 4.6 or there abouts. Why is it back in TB now?
I have checked this with four veriosn of TB 1.5 now, and with a new profile for each. Same results.

TB1.0.7 does not exhibit this behavior.
It may be my system, but I honestly don't see how, since this just started wiht the TB1.5 versions, and 1.0.7 is 'clean'.

I've been trying to download the Windows build for several weeks now without success. The link on this post gives: "Document Contains No Data". I've been trying to use both FireFox 1.0.7 and IE 6, and have tried getting to a download via several paths, all to no avail. Any suggestions? I presume that for some reason it's something on my end causing the problem, but for the life of me I can't tell what.\

Thanks.

Try to download here or here. These direct links should work.
However, it's strange that links in first post doesn't work. Try to use Fx 1.5.
