performs well
My intial findings seem to suggest that this build is faster (my feel) and uses significantly less RAM than a hyper-optimized (for pentium4 w/sse2) standard build w/gtk2 and sft support.
e.g. 13% of RAM on start up rather than 18% w/standard build.
This is with --optimize"-Os -march=i586" !

Sweet. I'm about to buy a PII-333/128MB laptop and this wil be perfect. As long as it will run Mandrake 9.2...
Who am I kidding - it will run Windows 2000, it will run Gnome no problem. Thanks for making the world a better place.
Just in time too - I'm cancelling my high-speed ISP pretty soon. Thx.

I should warn you that these builds do NOT have gtk2 and xft enabled, so they will not look all that nice.
