Hi

I just tried the latest version of the adblock extension v0.5 d2 nightly 25 but its not working right when I set it to collapse images its removing things it shouldn't

For instance when I go to come to http://www.wilderssecurity.com I have

http://www.wilderssecurity.com/YaBBImages/*.jpg

Set to block the images so the forum loads faster but leave the buttons intact however when I set the adblock extension to collapse the blocked images it also removes the forum titles what I should see is something like this

New Members and Help

Test Forum

FAQs

But what I actually see is this

Test Forum

FAQs

Note the forum title has vanished

This is an easily re-creatable bug just go to http://www.wilderssecurity.com and add http://www.wilderssecurity.com/YaBBImages/*.jpg to your block list set the adblock extension to collapse blocked images and clear your cash then reload the page and you will be able to see first hand what I'm talking about

The 2 thing that are really annoying me about this is that this same block in the older 0.3 version don't cause this behavior the page loads the images collapse and that's the end of it

The other thing that's annoying me about this is that this will be about the 2 or 3 time I've reported this bug and I've still had no response to at least confirm that this is a bug and is being worked on and not just something I'm doing wrong

If no one here can help me does anyone at least have a way I can contact the makes of the adblock extension so that I can tell them about this and get it fixed

First, aside from someone named WLP complaining this morning, I've never seen this reported prior.
.
Second, Adblock has its own dedicated forum -- where your report would never fall unnoticed.
.
Third, this is expected behaviour: if you click the status-element, you'll see the blocked images belong to table-cells. Thus, by activating collapsation, you cause the cells to collapse.

hi

thanks for the info

is there anyway i can have the adblock extension block the desired elements in the case above the undesired images

but not remove things i don't want it to remove in the case above the forum titles

plus could ya explain what you mean coz ya lost me

the other thing i would like to know is how best should i use the adblock extension just use simple expressions like *ad* *banner* etc or is there a better way

because i have read the page on regular expressions and its compleatley double dutch to me so i need to know how to get this to block the bits i want blocked but not block the bits i don't want blocked

Bethrezen:
Again, your queries are better suited to the dedicated forum.
.
Per the parent-post: you've set a filter to block all jpg-files from a certain directory on that site. But the main table for the page in question has header-cells using those very images for backgrounds. With Adblock set to "Collapse Blocked Items", the header-cells using the images are rightly collapsed.
.
Adblock has a pref to disable collapsation. Since it's default-disabled, you should recall turning it on.
.
Please post further replies to the Adblock Forum.

How about using a regular expression pattern to exclude the background elements, while leaving the rest blocked?
