I just changed the references from chrome://global/content/widgets to chrome://global/content/bindings.

You should update your themes accordingly. Aheum... I apologize because that's something we should have done before.
Files affected are:
- scrollbar.css
- global.css
- globalBindings.xml
- browser.xml

Using the above instruction I was able to get my favorite theme, Pinball, to work with recent Firebird nightlies.

But when I tried to do the same for the Thunderbird version, it didn't work. Is there anything else that needs to be changed in the Tbird themes?

what specifically doesn't work with it? maybe take a look at my smoke theme for tb. i have both 0.3 and 0.4 versions, but i think all i did was /widgets/ ==> /bindings/.

I tried the same, and finally it did work, although with some irregularities.
The latest Pinball update (from alanjstr, 0.7.8 ) works fine also.
EDIT: Oops, that was the FB theme

I suspect something changed in /messenger somewhere. I have not the faintest idea why the toolbar buttons no longer appear.

I'll do my best to get something out for 0.5 when hopefully (heh) TB changes will have settled down a bit. What put me off was the fact that I redid the theme from scratch for 0.3+ only to have the disappearing tooltip bug reassert itself again for no apparent reason. The next PB-tb will also be a rebuild from scratch (sort of; I'll hijack the /global and /mozapps dirs from PB-fb).

David, has anything really changed between 0.4 official build and 0.5 [Mozilla Thunderbird 0.5a (20031223)]? I tried out my smoke theme and didn't see anything off-hand that I needed to update to work with the 0.5a version of Thunderbird...

I don't know the answer to that, but I do know something significant changed between 0.3 and 0.4.

Ya, the bindings/widgets game and also the selector in css for address book delete changed from #delete to #abdelete. That's all I can think of off the top of my head thought.
