Default Programs used by Thunderbird

Post by mmouer »

Image attachments are opened by default with QuickTime.
Does anyone know how to change the default programs used by Thunderbird.

Thank you,

Thanks for your response but the window File Types is inactive and the Change Action and Remove buttons are grayed out.

Do I need to do something else to make this window active so I can add the actions I want?

Ah.. I have three entries in the list. When I click on one, the buttons become active. Maybe you should disable Quicktime as your graphics viewer on an OS level, but that's guessing. I would try it. If you already have an attachment, it shouldn't be much work to test.

These are not necessarily handled by Tb. Most times Tb will use the application specified in some windows setting(s).
Assuming WinXP or W2K, look in a Windows Explorer Tools|Folder Options|File Types and set the application you want to open a specific image type.

Establishing the default programs through Windows is the answer - thanks to all who responded!
