Well I thought I would give it a go with 060417 (I had been using the last usable build for me - 063029 - after that I lost headers then after that the crash was introduced) but it crashed within 30 mins. There seems to be a few of us out here - any ideas on the changes made to cause this?

As of, I think, 14-Apr-2006, Tb trunk has been "hanging" with the logo top right spinning after collecting my mail. As far as I can tell, it's completed all the expected actions, so I'm not sure what it thinks it's in the middle of. Anyone else seeing this?

Does bug 332700 describe the behavior you see?

POP3 -- I've no IMAP accounts to check against.
The status line progress indicator also continues scanning, I just noticed.
Clicking the "Stop the current transfer" button has no effect.
The status line text does get to "There are no new messages on the server", so it's not like it's having any obvious problems.
The behaviour continued after I clicked the lower left icon to go offline.

re:bug 332700 - this does seem to reference my problems. How do I add comments on bugzilla, I do have some feedback for them?

Did you try the workaround posted in the bug (turn off AV quarentine) ?

Smartcat - That is what I wanted to tell them. I use a different AV and even with it off I crash.

Didn't know that even existed. Will turn it off and start the update process...

Trying to update from 041806 nightly to the new nightly, it downloaded the 200kb partial update, then failed the integrity test, so it downloaded the complete 7.6mb package. Upon restarting, the old nightly pops up and attempted to download. The updater froze on finding the server.
This is the exact same problem we had in Firefox trunk before, took more than 1 month to fix.

this is weird, I just downloaded the nightly trunk installer from the link above, but it is still the yesterday's nightly.

Sorry, but I hate this buggy update system. My thunderbird just wanted to download the complete package, because the partial update wasn't available yet. But I don't want this big package. I closed thunderbird and deleted subfolder "0" in "updates" in my Thunderbird folder.
result: I started thunderbird again and the "check for updates" and the update system just says "resume..." and doesn't do anything... very annoying!
Deleting active-update.xml makes update-system working again.
Why is there no abort button in the update-dialog ???
