The Opera browser has a truly wonderful zoom feature: it enlarges every pixel, so as text becomes larger, so do images and columns widen. Annoying sidebars with ads disappear as a bonus.
Feature request: a zoom feature like Opera.

Such a feature would be possible with the new development of the rendering engine available in Fx 3.0. It is very likely that very same release will have that zoom feature.
Fx 3.0 is scheduled for the first half of 2007, more likely somewhen in the summer (northern hemisphere) of that same year.

OK, so it would be possible when the rendering engine is redesigned. That's kinda vague. Can anyone provide a link to a FF3 feature list that actually shows it will be in that release? Please?

The engine is being redesign for Fx 3.0. That's a work in progress that should be finished for the alpha 1, somewhere near Christmas or January.
The list of features for Fx 3.0 is not yet defined. But the current idea is there: http://wiki.mozilla.org/Firefox:Home_Pa ... so.29_Plan

Try the "Image Zoom" extension. It has an option that can enlarge images while enlarging text size.
