Maybe stupid question, but help files are supposed to be up to par by now, or will they be updated in the final days before the official 2.0 release? Reason for asking: I noticed that for example "Connection settings" have moved to Advanced settings, but not in the help file...

I expect the Help documentation still has to be updated. Certainly when you choose certain tabs in the Tools > Options and click help, you are not taken immediately to the relevant help page as you always are in ff1.5

I discovered it by going to Help -> Help Contents -> Options -> General and discovering the connection settings info, while I knew that they are now under Advanced (to my dislike, since I have to switch my proxy on/off when using laptop at work/home...)

By the way: the link in Tools -> Add-ons and clicking "Get extensions" is broken, goes to https://addons.mozilla.org/data/www/add ... xtensions/

Yes, there's a new build machine called fx-release which will build firefox on-demand (not hourly) for specific purposes (ie: candidate builds). These daily branch threads will follow the fx-nightly machine as they always have done tho.

I think this new machine will give the release managers a bit more control over when they get their builds, and also allow for candidate builds to be branded Firefox, whilst the nightly builds will continue to be Bon Echo.

You can use an extension like proxy button for that.

Downloaded and installed firefox-2.0b2.en-US.linux-i686.tar.gz. Yet I still get Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1b2) Gecko/20060821 BonEcho/2.0b2 - Build ID: 2006082104.

Not a big deal, really. Just wondering if I might have a problem here.

Uncle SpellBinder, it really depends where you got the build from, since the tinderbox arrangements are different from previous releases. To paraphrase what chob said above, the normal nightly tinderbox will continue to produce the <a href="http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/latest-mozilla1.8/">unbranded BonEcho builds</a>; and special Release configs will be used to make the <a href="http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2.0b2-candidates/">branded release candidates.</a>

@ CrazyFred

Gottcah. That explains it. I got mine from: http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/firefox/nightly/2006-08-21-04-mozilla1.8/

Thanks.

@Jus: yes, after writing that post I started to look for an extension.. appeared that the two I tried aren't compatible with bon echo 2. Too bad there isn't an option to 'install anyway and wait for update to come along' ;-)
but thanks anyway!

Is there a bug filed for the close button shifting up on an active tab? I click an inactive tab to make it active and the close button shift up.

Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1b2) Gecko/20060821 BonEcho/2.0b2 ID:2006082103

Glad someone else is seeing this. I thought I was going mad.

From the previous thread (nobody responded):
Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1b2) Gecko/20060821 BonEcho/2.0b2 - ID: 2006082104

Uncle Spellbinder wrote:Anyone seeing this. The tab no longer is 1 pixel off when using 100 DPI or higher and the hand no longer appears when hovering over a tab. But now, whenever I hover over the close X on any tab, it jumps a pixel or so. Same whenever I hover over a bookmark folder on my bookmark tool bar. This happens in both my primary profile and a clean, untouched profile (several bookmark folders added for testing purposes).

Uncle Spellbinder wrote:It seems to be more than the jumping close X on tabs. I'm also getting it in the menubar. When the drop down appears, hovering over any of them, and they jump a bit.
