Blue glow on Google dropdown

Up until a moment ago, a blue glow surrounded the black down arrow on the Google dropdown. I found this extremely annoying and distracting, and decided to post about it here. Since it might have been a bug, I tried to grab a screenshot of it, but it disappeared right when I told it to take a screenshot. While I'm glad that it's now gone, I'm wondering if anybody else has/had this problem. Was this intentional, or some sort of bug?

The glow is there to indicate that the page you're visiting has it's own search engine. If you click on the search engine dropdown you'll notice the "Add search egine..." dialog for you current page.

Oh, okay.
Is there a way to turn it off?

I'm sorry, I wouldn't know that. I tried searching in about:config for a predefined string about that but I couldn't find anything, maybe one of the devs could shed some light on that issue.
I find the feature quite useful, though I've just used it once. Besides, the blue glow is really nice ,but it can be potentially obtrusive to someone that doesn't know about the feature (hence this topic )

The devs went to a lot of trouble to bring you that blue glow.

Well, I think it's a nice feature, but it's a little too bright and distracting. I have all of the searches I use except for Google as quicksearches, which I find easier to use then readjusting the Google dropdown. On the other hand, this whole things kind of makes me want to try out the dropdown to see how that feels.

Try adding this to your userChrome.css:
In theory, this should get rid of the blue glow that the devs labored so mightily to bring you. No promises, though; I'm not absolutely sure I understand how that code works. Firefox: Good things come to those who wait.

I don't get a blue glow with Google
Only Wikipedia. Could it be because I already have Google added to my search engines list? Edit: Oh, you didn't say you were on Google. Yep, it's a great feature. Anyway, to get rid of the blue glow, you could add the search engine to your list if you want.

I believe Ed's code would work if you made the code say this:
Give a man a fish, and he eats for a day. Teach a man to fish, and he eats for a lifetime.

You'll only see this on a very few sites.
I can't figure out how to remove it via userChrome.css. But if you cannot stand it, close Firefox, then in C>ProgramFiles>Mozilla Firefox>chrome, change the name of classic.jar to classic.zip . Then open it and go to skin>classic>browser and delete the 3 images named search-provider-etc. Rename zip back to jar and your done. You'll have to repeat this after every Firefox update.

Here's the css to remove the blue glow:
.searchbar-engine-button * { background: none !important } i created a global rule in Stylish [1] for this and other firefox css tweaks. I like it much better than messing with the userChrome.css file. [1] https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/2108
