I wonder why the installer version of this release, as well as that for yesterday's release, delete the contents of the search plugins folder? The 0.8 branch installer versions have not been doing that.

According to The Burning Edge:

Installer problem: 228672 - Installer deletes any non-Firebird files in the installation directory.
Solutions nearly always come from the direction you least expect, which means there's no point in trying to look in that direction because it won't be coming from there.

Both the trunk and the branch have that problem. If you never touch the checkbox, though, the trunk will exhibit the problem while the branch won't, because the checkbox has a different default on the branch.

This is ridiculous. I'm glad that I decided to stick with zipped builds.
(with the bonus that I moved to the trunk with its fine builds)

I agree with you that the installer bug sucks. That's part of why I include it in The Burning Edge even though Ben has made changes to prevent most instances of catastrophic dataloss.

Thanks; the Burning Edge seems to be the page I visit most the last time. It's very helpful.

For Europeans I can advise http://www.mirror.ac.uk/sites/ftp.mozil ... -06-trunk/

It made my download ten times faster (21 kB/s <-> 210 kB/s).

Thanks: I take a quick look at Burning Edge every day, but, as I'd not been using the trunk installer versions, had overlooked that oddity in the installer. It is not a big problem: I just copy my searchplugins from another folder into the newest Firebird one.

OK, they wanted testing. It's been tested. Now waiting for the fix....
