problem in downloading & saving image

I'm a new user of firefox, using firefox2. I'm facing problem in downloading files and saving images. no download window appears when i start downloading anything, though it starts downloading but i cant see the status of it. One more thing is, when ever i try to save an image from net, it never works.
is it because of any download manager i'm already using (currently i'm using "download accelerator")? The OS i'm using is windows XP.

the download history is already blank besides the location for the folder address for download is blank though in the options the download location i.e. desktop is mentioned.

You can still remove the file manually. Or uninstall (resp. disable) the download manager.
