Seriously could it be done?
An extension that will give the browser a random name, set on time, at every startup or....
Face it people - an extension that uses anything with Fire - such as FireDuck, FireDonkey or whatever.

Can it be done and will anyone do it?

I'll settle for an extension that will just change the name to one of my liking.

Could be a configuration thing to be included.

Ok, I'll bite.
.
What exactly are you asking for: a useragent-alteration? Something that renames every piece of code that says Firefox / Mozilla? A new about-box?
.
No-one can answer a question that doesn't make sense.

An extension that changes the name basically. Not a user-agent switcher.
Perhaps included with some functions that changes the about screen.
Basically - if I choose the name FireAnt - the browser will have that name - same as with Firefox.
Perhaps let me as user be able to create a lit of names - a textfile to choose a name from.

I do not know if all this is possible - just some ideas.

flibble extension may be a starting point ?

http://downloads.mozdev.org/cdn/flibble/flibble.xpi ?

you need to use flibble/flibble2.xul and tweak flibble/flibble.dtd to taste : )

This help?
From the knowledge base pages.
Somewhere there is a page explaining how to make an extension, so all's ti should have to do is over write the en-US file each time with the one of your choice. Maybe there is a way you can 'randomize' it to grab from a selection of jar files.

have fun

The flibble2.xul overlay of flibble has its own DTD - no overwriting en-US.jar required.

Just needs someone to spend the time working out how to, for example, pull a random name from a list (say the Px -> Fb naming thread), to change the value of the <window> titlemodifier attribute.

The fun would come trying to change everywhere - which would require overwriting en-US.jar as one option.

This is a start:

Firesomething extension 1.0

It only modifies the browser name in the window title, and only if it contains the word "Fire". I'm currently posting this from Mozilla Firepanda.

Oh no. A firekatte? A Firedunder? Fireklumpen will get you hot feet in Dutch. Since Fireraf will be the ultimate name, don't include me in the extension ;)
