[Ext] Download Manager Tweak extension

Post by andman42 »

I was not a big fan of the new download manager in 0.8, so I decided to try and improve it. I wanted to make the download window a little smaller and more aesthetically pleasing. I thought the original wasted too much space, and I didn’t like the URLs for Cancel, Retry, etc.

I did a little hacking and ended up with a working download manager that was more pleasing to me.
A screenshot comparing the old download manager to my new one can be seen here: http://dmextension.mozdev.org/

You can download extension's installer here: Install.

Let me know what you think. Any comments or suggestions?

care to share your tweak?

Sure, but what would be the best way to do so? I edited quite a few files. Perhaps, I should post the jar files?

yep that would be best i think, then people can replace it easily and if you want the code you can compare the files with the original...

looks great.
any chance at getting it so something actually happens when clicking on the "all downloads are finished" little pop up tray thing?

it's a blue underlined text...you'd think clicking on it would do SOMETHING? open the download manager, show the location of the downloaded file, something

In fact I think it looks so great as it should be standard - or at least get Ben to take a look at it.

That is one sweet download manager. That should definitly be the default for firefox. One question - are there tooltips on those icons? Some people might be confused by all the symbols.

I agree, it should probably open the download manager, but I'm not sure how to do it. I'll look into it more this weekend.

Yeah, all of the icons have tooltips explaining what they do.

Again, thanks for all the positive comments. I'll post the jar files tonight.
