The Calendar Weblog has announced that Sunbird 0.5 / Lightning 0.5 Release Candidate 2 is now available.

Calendar Weblog wrote:Hi everyone!

As some of you have already found out by watching the mozilla.org ftp server, Lightning 0.5 RC2 and Sunbird 0.5 RC2 have been released.

We have the Sunbird RC's for all our supported locales as well as the Lightning RC's for all our supported locales, but unfortunately Lightning 0.5 RC2 is not yet available for the Mac. We will offer a universal Mac build of Lightning as soon as possible.

Here's where to get your hands on the RC:
Sunbird 0.5 RC2
Sunbird release notes

Lightning 0.5 RC2
Lightning release notes

Please hammer on those builds as much as you can. If no serious issues are identified in the next few days, these builds will become the official Lightning and Sunbird 0.5 release.

You can also report your findings here. Official bug reports belong to bugzilla.mozilla.org. Please read the release notes including the list of known issues first. Also search for existing bugs before filing a new bug.

Hello,
I am an old user of sunbird and lightning.
Today, I install 0.5 rc2 of Sunbird and lightning (with thunderbird 2.0.04) and i have the same bug in the 2 programs.
I use network calendars on iCal Exchange and when I want to see my events for the month of june, it's OK, if I click on july or on another month, there is no events, it's empty. If I want to see june, it is also empty.
If I install the rc1 of the two programs, all is fine.
Do you think it's a bug? Thanks for your answer.

Hi forgetms,
do you see any calendar related error messages in the Error Console (available from menu Tools)? If yes I'd like you to copy and paste them here.

Stefan,

A minor problem I can see with the latest build (2007061403) - 'though it could also have been in the earlier version but I just didn't notice it: if I'm looking at my list of calendars in the left-hand column & double-click on one of them, it opens the 'Edit Calendar' option for the <i>next</i> calendar, rather than the one I've double-clicked.

I say 'minor', as I can just right-click and choose 'Properties'... :)

Hi Patrick,
works fine for me using both Sunbird and Lightning 0.5 RC2 builds on Windows 2000.

Hmm... wonder why Lightning (sorry, should've mentioned what product I'm using!) works a little strangely for me then?

Oh well, I expect I'll survive with that little idiosyncracy... ;-)

Still getting errors when amending a calendar over webdav that has been amended (via webdav - cadaver in my tests) by another client since loading. Status Code: 412: Precondition Failed

Is this ever going to be fixed or is the intention that calendars can never be shared in a group environment ?

According to Bug 327933 Comment #36 this is a feature. Sunbird tries to prevent you from overwriting the changes the other person made. That's why the message shows up. Workaround to minimize risk: reload calendar before editing it.

Yes, if someone shows up and fixes Bug 329570.

Sure - but this used to work - admittedly a few versions ago. It used to reload before making an amendment (not sure if it locked).

I've lost the battle with this now anyway - am being forced to move all sales staff onto outlook and exchange so that their appointments can be made and managed :(

I upgraded from 0.31 and now I can't see my older calendar items ( which are definitely there ) - I'm getting my calendar via iCalendar ( ICS ) from a webdav server with authentication. Have been getting 401/404 errors in the apache logs as well. And sometimes I get the same error as above in the java console error: It's almost as if lightning doesn't even get to the server. Some log entries:
