Major problem with today's trunk.
Can't send email
Problem sending file, unable to authenticate with SMPT server.
Pop3 with my regular email and pop3 gmail.
EDIT Maybe # 311657 [Core] - Don't fall back to insecure authentication after SMTP auth failure [All]
EDIT1 Authentication works in newsgroups where it is required.

the latest build i got pushed today doesn't work at all, immediantly it will crash when i start it.
The build of 4 july does start, the only thing is that lately it is not really stable. It will crash a few times a day
and i also don't see the cursor anymore in the compose mail dialog.

Same here with today's build. Ran the update but now Thunderbird won't even start. Clicking the icon does nothing. I don't see any hung processes in the Task Manager either. This is on Vista.

If I force the 2007-06-05 build to create a new profile folder (by changing the name of the current folder) it will start. It faults any time I try to use my existing profile. Yesterday I was able to get the 2007-05-05 build to work with my existing profile if I first forced the creation of a new profile. That trick does not seem to work today.
I filed https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=387111

Regarding smtp authentication and
# 311657 [Core] - Don't fall back to insecure authentication after SMTP auth failure [All]
If you mistakenly set up an account calling for authentication, and your server does not require it,
you will not be able to send mail until you correct the settings.
This has been the case for me for the last 4 years or so.

With the current build I cannot tell thunderbird to put deleted mail in any other folder but "Trash".
I used to be able to do:
{account}->Server Settings->When I delete a message->Move it to this folder: "Deleted Items"
It now always revert to the "Trash" folder after I click <OK>
Is anybody else seeing this problem ?
Using IMAP and: Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007070705 Thunderbird/3.0a1pre ID:2007070705

For the last 4 or 5 days every partial update on trunk results in a full d/l
This will crash on startup ??? # 387111 [Thunderbird] - Crash on startup with existing Profile [Win]
If I overlay with an hourly build, it works fine.
The troubling part of this is that it would seem "software update" does not produce the same results as
a full d/l

Software update did give a partial trunk update today.
Crashed on restart after update.
d/l'd latest-trunk and overlaid.
Crashed on startup.
d/l'd hourly build and overlaid.
Works fine with existing profile.

Same here, currently using:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.9a7pre) Gecko/2007070907 Thunderbird/3.0a1pre ID:2007070907
without any problems. There seems to be something broken only with the nightlies, not with the hourlies / tinderboxlies.

I am still experiencing the smtp error (failed to send etc). I have played around with all of the settings that I can find to see if I can get mail to send but no luck. I had to go back to the 2007070404 nightly. Am I missing something (likely) or has that not been fixed yet? I have Secure Authentication set at NO and Secure Connection set at STARTTLS, if available.

dansx6, sounds like your problem was caused by Bug 311657 ( https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=311657). Can you post your comments and problem there for the right devs to see? Thanks!

I gave up on this last night. Every update caused several reinstalls. Once this one is taken care of I'll go back to the beta. Until then, I'm back at 2.0.0.4

What I have been doing is going directly to:
http://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/mozilla.org/ ... ox-builds/
Those builds have been fine.
I'll try "update" and latest-trunk every few days or so.
