Firefox 2.0.0.10 (and previous versions) hang when accessing certain sites.
By "hang" I mean - the program stops responding - all tabs. The only thing which will do anything is the Windows Close Window (X) button (top right of window) which lets you close down Firefox. Task Manager shows (not repsonding) and no CPU usage.
An example site is http://www.redfunnel.co.uk/ though there are others - they work fine in IE.
I have tried turning off JavaScript. The only extensions I have are McAfee SiteAdvisor v26.5, PDF Download 0.8.1, Talkback and US English Dictionary. I have no themes. I have tried removing the plugins folder. I have exactly one sessionsstore.js file
This happens with Windows Vista and McAfee anti-virus, but on my old machine (Windows XP and Norton AV) the sites load OK in Firefox. The site appears to use Java (a message "Applet new Ticker.java loaded" appears in the status bar on the machine where the site works.)
I did try the suggestion to add firefox.exe to the "Prevent downloads from the World Wide web" list in McAfee Virusscan console, but coulndn't find anywhere in McAfee to do it! My McAfee is a pretty new one (Security Center v8.0, VirsusScan v12.0, Personal Firewall v9.0)
Many thanks for any help.
David.
