How do I get the home button back to it's rightful place? I tried to add it back via Customize toolbar but there seems to be every button in there except the Home
Is Mozilla deliberately trying to force me away from having the Home button where it used to be? . Firefox 3 is still a TEST program... It still may not work correctly. Look in the Builds Forum, it is being discussed there. Unless you want to TEST Firefox 3, I suggest you keep to Firefox 2, until the program is in its final form with all these problems fixed. If you Drag the Home icon from the Bookmarks bar to another Toolbar, while in customise mode, does this work. And Yes, Mozilla do want that icon there, by default. Please DO NOT PM me for support... Lets keep it on the board, so we can all learn. i'm aware it is in beta.. well more like delta now
still this cannot be an overlooked bug. this is a design issue. there has to be a way to return the home button, if i could only figure out how :\ If you register, I can move this to the Builds Forum, where this should be discussed.
It could be a bug /regression Have a look through the Builds Forum, there may be a solution somewhere.... Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. -Albert Einstein

"Terry Pratchett" bingo! thanks
first thing I do on a fresh firefox install is disable the bookmark toolbar and I didnt even see it there OK... Now you have registered, Thank you
The UI is still in a state of flux, so anything is possible.... However it does look a lot nicer on Linux Only two things are infinite, the universe and human stupidity, and I'm not sure about the former. -Albert Einstein

This is the FIRST thing I did... but strangely it didn't work. I can get to the Customize toolbar fine, but I can not drag the Home button off the Bookmarks toolbar. I can't even drag it back to the Customize toolbar. Not left-click dragging, right-click dragging or Alt-dragging. What am I doing wrong? i just tried out 3.0 and came to the forum to fix this exact problem. I hate that they've moved the Home icon to the Bookmarks toolbar. I disable that toolbar immediately after installing FF. It just takes up space.
And to confuse matters more, I upgrade my two machines at home from Fx3b2 to Fx3b3 after work today and they both work fine. The Home icon sits up on the menu bar where it was before...
Go figure \_O_/ I ran into a problem with moving the Home button until I disabled some extensions that I had forced compatible (with MrTechs tool).
It turned out that the MozGestures version I had bunged up the Customize toolbar functions. It works now for me. jhoeppel,
I'm not sure if you already got the answer you were looking for, or figured it out yourself, but make sure you right-click on the toolbars and select 'customize' before trying to drag the 'Home' button from the 'Bookmarks Toolbar' to the 'Navigation Toolbar'. Leave that 'customize' window open while dragging buttons. If that still doesn't work, disable any weird extensions you have running that might not be completely compatible with this new build. I hope that helps. watterzz
I did leave the customize window open when tying to drag the home icon. But I will check extensions when I get back to work tomorrow... although I don't have many running... and I tend to have the same setups on all the PCs I use. But thanks for the tip... ~john
The first thing I thought when I started F3b3: "Where is the 'Home' button?" then I ran to this forum. I always surf without the bookmarks toolbar and it is nice that there is a solution to get the 'Home' button back to its old place, but I think this change is really a design flaw. I think the 'Home' button is an essential piece of navigation, moving its location out of the context 'navigation' is a really bad idea. Veteran users will have to cope with this change and this will create some resistance to use the new version for sure (not everybody knows this can be solved in the customize toolbar mode, at least I didn't). I'm still not used the interface layout change that came with IE7 (I was already using FF at that time, but the layout change of IE convinced me totally that FF was the way to go) and probably this is also the reason I'm not using Opera 9 (that 'start bar' is totally misplaced). I don't like the look of the new buttons, but hey! ... that's why Firefox support themes, doesn't it?
