Current "Gotchas" for Trunk Testers

Since 2007-08-13 You will need to "select" an app to call a link.
This is stored in mimeTypes.rdf but is not editable in the TB UI
Workaround: Don't save the selection, or backup your mimetypes.rdf.

Current Branch Status

Can't send mail to certain smtp servers

i notice that DOM Inspector 2.0 on AMO does not work, for me, with either Tb2 or Tb3pre. are there known bugs for this?

perhaps they should have just taken philip chee's version......

I was about to try philip's method when the addon was released.
It seems to work fine for me (the addon version)
[2008-02-28 13:42 -trunk ]# 254031 [Thunderbird] - DOM inspector from addons.mozilla.org needs to work on thunderbird [All]
The above added inspector.xpt to the builds to make it work.

EDIT: I just tried it in a trunk build.

I just updated my branch build to:
Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.1; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13pre) Gecko/20080305 Thunderbird/2.0.0.13pre ID:2008030503

A few test sends via pop3 and my gmail seemed to send fine.

earlpiggot,
You seemed to have taken all the steps that I could suggest except:
I know it's a pain, but you might have to set up a new profile, or at least a test profile.
My feeling is that something got clobbered in your profile on that power failure you mentioned.

aha, just upgraded to 0305 trunk, and it works. it must have been the workaround to get phil's version working. thanks.

Just to warn that the regression which occured to trunk end of february is now on the 1.8.1 branch
Bug 419116 – Sending mail through SMTP server that doesn't require user:pass fails

--> since TB 2.0.0.13pre 20080304 ... and yet in the last nightly 2.0.0.13pre 2008030603

so, sending through smtp without authentification failed ... sending through the gmail smtp server (TLS + auth) works ok

Searching bugzilla for "SMTP" and found this newly reported bug: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=372238
Does this relate to the smtp bug reported in this thread?

Don't think so.
# 419116 [Core] - Sending mail through SMTP server that doesn't require user:pass fails [All]
Applies to using a server that does not require authentication with user:pass

419116 became a problem in branch because the same patch that broke the trunk was checked into
branch on 2008-03-03

Is anyone else having problems sending mail through Dreamhost's SMTP servers? I keep getting errors about a non-trusted certificate. I imported the certificate, and told it to trust everything. I'm not sure what the problem is.

I have been running the nightly trunk for a day or so while the SMTP issue was resolved. I note that the "add contacts BCC" is a default option in the nightly trunk but not yet in the nightly branch. Will this function be available to the branch soon?

I don't know why, but the latest nightlies doesn't display my mails. I double click on a new mail to read it, but the opened window is empty. Testet this with localized build (tinderbox-build, de, Version 3.0a1pre (2008031103)) and the US build (en-US, version 3.0a1pre (2008031103)).

I recognized this yesterday for the first time, while building thunderbird from source with my own mozconfig. But I have this now with the official builds also.

Mac OS X 10.5.2, PPC
