EDIT ! I just posted again at the end of this Long Thread, so click LAST to see my new question.

Folks, I can't view most of the BBC videos now. Like this one ..

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/business/7355883.stm That little "loading" circle spins around and then nothing.

This problem seems to have just started a few days ago. I have the newest version of Flash installed. These videos have a new look to them, and it's those types I can't view. I had no problem viewing the older type videos. I tried disabling Adblock but that doesn't help.

Using Win XP Home, and F Fox (naturally) as my browser. I tried IE, but can't view them with it either.

I've Whitelisted the whole site if that matters.

Hope someone has some ideas!

Hhmmm, this one http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/science/nature/7350403.stm the circle spins around and then there's a Click to Play button. I click it, and the circle starts spinning around ..

the first link I posted, I don't even get that Click to Play button.

Oh, and I have I think the newest version of F Fox 2.0.0.14. You know, I think I remember recently getting an FF update, and my BBC video problems might have started at the same time, but that's just a guess.

Yes, they don't work and their FAQ is out of date (it mentions RealPlayer and Windows Media Player as requirements for viewing videos, even though they're actually Flash-based).

If the videos don't work in IE either, it's clearly not a problem with the browser. Contact BBC News about technical issues here: http://news.bbc.co.uk/newswatch/ukfs/hi ... 993913.stm

I already did that a few days ago GB Guy, haven't heard back from them yet (and might not ever).

I had no problem viewing them until they changed the video format or something a few weeks ago (plus or minus).

Check that you have Flash installed in Firefox and not blocked. I'm also using latest Firefox (2.0.0.14) on Windows XP and not experiencing any problem.

#^%$@! :furious:

It's one of those obnoxious videos that piggyback on the ads, so if you block the ads, the video doesn't load. Clever, BBC, too clever. Whitelisting doubleclick.net made it work. If it still doesn't work after whitelisting the aforementioned site or disabling ad blocking altogether, the usual remedies apply:
  1. Close all browsers.
  2. Uninstall Flash using the uninstaller from Adobe.
  3. Install the latest version.
  4. Clear the cache under Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Clear now.

Edit: doubleclick.net changed ad servers; updated aforementioned filter.

Hey GB Guy, how do I specifically whitelist that ad.doubleclick.net? I don't see in Adblock where I can do that.
