The Official Win32 2004-05-07 build is out.

Post by Peter(6) »

Read the interview with Chris Hofmann, Director of Engineering at the Mozilla Foundation

Ben Goodger wrote:Reporting and Nominating Bugs for Mozilla Firefox 1.0
"We're beginning the drive to Firefox 1.0 and we need to make sure that every bug people think is important is filed in Bugzilla and has a blocking0.9? or blocking1.0? request flag set.
( Comment: Do NOT set the flag to + or -, only devs are allowed to do that ! )This will allow the FDT (heh) to develop an action plan for the milestones between now and 1.0, prioritize bugs and so on. It's essential that people start doing this now, rather than later, otherwise bugs might slip through the cracks!" Further details are available in here

The Official Win32 2004-05-07 build is out.
Continued buggy extension manager behaviour, don't expect too much of it yet
The previous Official Win32 build was 2004-05-06

If you find problems/bugs:
  1. Post them in this thread
  2. Properly describe the problem
  3. Include the url where you have the problem (if this is the case)
  4. Include the "about mozilla firefox" information (under the help button)
  5. Installer build or .zip version?
  6. Did you completely erase the Firefox directory first?
  7. Does a new profile fix the problem?
  8. Include the list of extensions you have installed (preferably none to start with)
This makes it a lot easier for others to duplicate your problem.

Morning :)

I've got rid of bug #242275. On my XP PC at home and on my Windows2000 PC at work. The last weeks i used the .exe installer from the nightly builds. Someone here mentioned that this bug does only happen when you use the firefox .exe installer. So i used the .zip file from the nightly build 2004-05-06. After installing i opened the dialog "Tools" - "Options" - "Advanced" and i can open the subdialogs "Manage Certificates..." and "Manage Security Devices". But now i had another problem (same on both computers): when i enter an URL in the browser or select an URL from the history, firefox hangs up completly. I had to kill it with the task manager. So i installed the .exe-Installer 2004-05-06 over the .zip installation and everything works from now on! I can also visit a web page where a certiftcate has become invalid, the dialog window which asks me what to do appears as well.

Rendering seems to be alot faster, but something is strange about it. pages "flicker" when loading sometimes, more noticable when viewing source and the about: pages.

Nice checkins :) It's great to see so many fixes, but also somewhat bittersweet since some of the bigger bugs are still around

Ben checked in some more extention/theme manager updates ... especially those dealing with the later.

I noticed that in this directory: http://www.bengoodger.com/software/mb/extensions/ there are now two files named newext3-7.9.xpi and newext3-8.0.xp, neither install yet but they might be fun to examine

Maybe bug #242856 (nr 9 on the list) ?

Jup, I can confirm this erroneous behaviour. I'm also suffering from it. I have voted for the bug and I hope it get's cleared soon :) .

Hmmm, I guess there aren't any volunteers to try and dupe this "problem" ?

That bug that I filed also has the flicker as you call it. When going from my home page to an image, you could call it a flicker. When going back to my home page, sometimes it just plain stalls for a few seconds. These pages are all on my hard drive so they should come up instantly. The problem is isolating the code down. I may have to do some builds this weekend to see if we can narrow it down.
