The Official Win32 2004-05-15 [Trunk] build is out.

Ben Goodger 2004-05-10 wrote:Reporting and Nominating Bugs for Mozilla Firefox 1.0
"We're beginning the drive to Firefox 1.0 and we need to make sure that every bug people think is important is filed in Bugzilla and has a blocking0.9? or blocking1.0? request flag set.
( Comment: Do NOT set the flag to + or -, only devs are allowed to do that ! )This will allow the FDT (heh) to develop an action plan for the milestones between now and 1.0, prioritize bugs and so on. It's essential that people start doing this now, rather than later, otherwise bugs might slip through the cracks!" Further details are available in here

The Official Win32 2004-05-15 [Trunk] build is out.
Continued buggy extension manager behaviour, don't expect too much of it yet
The previous Official Win32 build was 2004-05-14
The unofficial branch/trunk builds moved to here

If you find problems/bugs:
  1. Post them in this thread
  2. Properly describe the problem
  3. Include the url where you have the problem (if this is the case)
  4. Include the "about mozilla firefox" information (under the help button)
  5. Installer build or .zip version?
  6. Did you completely erase the Firefox directory first?
  7. Does a new profile fix the problem?
  8. Include the list of extensions you have installed (preferably none to start with)
This makes it a lot easier for others to duplicate your problem.

Maybe I should simply remove a few of those regressions, they're bad for moral ;-)

Tiermann, are you building K-Meleon based on rv:1.7 too ?

That's the risk of using nigthly's. Instead of switching back, rather use a stable.

I've lost nearly all my extensions in recent nightly's, but heck, that's the risk you take using them.

branch builds don't have most of those bugs. have you tried them?

What is this crap? Firefox branch is heading towards a final, stable, solid release (which is good) whilst on the trunk the hardcore work is still being done for future versions (which is good).

I don't get people moaning about how unstable and how many regressions the trunk has. That's what it's meant to have, so work can go on with it whilst the branch heads for final 1.0. If you don't like firefox sling your hook and save your whining for another forum. Thanks.

I think that is probably one of the stupidest things I have yet read on this forum. WHY NOT GO BACK TO A MILESTONE OR STABLE NIGHTLY?

Honestly, the number of people using nightlies and expecting them to be useful is beyond belief.

What about Firefox 0.8? That worked fine for me for over a month after it came out while the trunk Firefox was super-buggy. In reality there's not much different in recent builds from 0.8 if you're already solidly converted - the big features (settings import and extension manager) are either unnecessary or can be lived without for now.

The trunk is basically 1.8a and the bustages have occured in Seamonkey and Firefox. If you try a branch build you will see that most of the problems dont exist and its pretty stable.

Chob, in all fairness, testing nightly trunk builds is great, but if it's getting so buggy like at present, with quite a few of the main functions/options/extensions NOT/BARELY working people will be driven away from the trunk and switch to the safe branch to test the ultra-safe one-in-a-day fix. Because a number of FF0.9 features are currently developped and only tested in the trunk we need at least some minimal stability.
(I am NOT complaining!)

The longer that bug 242494 exists, the more tempted I am to build from the branch instead.
