Post by BenBasson »

Translate Page 0.1
Updated: 28/05/2004

What it does:
Duplicates the functionality of Mozilla's "Translate Page" function on the Tools menu, allowing you to translate the document that you're currently viewing from French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Portuguese to English. This is done by Google's translation service.

Where you can get it:
http://extensions.cusser.net/translatep ... tepage.xpi

Where you can test it:
http://texturizer.net/mozilla/fr/firebird/

Release history:
0.1 - 28/05/2004

no screenshot(s)? And uh, it's only available from the Tools menu? Why not the right-click menu too?

That's the way Mozilla does it, I was simply filling in a request from the Features forum to bring the Mozilla functionality to Firefox. If you want a context option too, I can do that too.

A mouse gesture to support that would be cool, but that's not really your area huh?

Indeed it isn't. Since the code is literally tiny, you could suggest it to the author of a mouse gesture extension and they could easily include it.

If you have problems with this, complain to Google. The Extension uses Google people, http://www.google.com! If for some reason the current page isn't sent to Google's translation service then let me know. I might pull this extension altogether to be honest, it's superceded by so many others.

Actually, Allinmouse now allows you to translate pages with mouse gestures.

Then there is translate, which adds either a toolbar button and/or context menu.

Any more translation tools I missed?

There may be others, but those were the two that immediately came to mind.

No, since it sends your current URI to Google's page translation service. I wonder how many more times I'll have to say this before I become suicidal :D
