I have just run some tests of firefox against IE...

OK. firefox is ment to be alot faster.. the only way i can get firefox to refresh pages at the same speed as IE it to disable images in firefox.. with IE i can refresh pages within 1 sec.. firefox takes 3 sec minimum..

is this sometning i am doing wrong or what?

Same problem; Firefox seems to always want to preload images when refreshing using F5. Rather than the IE method of showing the page, then worrying about images.

My IE seems to preload the images as well, then display the page.. but IE is still alot faster

It depends on the server. Firfox always follows the "content expiration" setting sent by the server. IE Often ignores this.
