New Winstripe Fixes!!

Post by tmeader »

Thought you all might like to see some of the new icons being put into the 0.9.1 branch. Address quite a few of the concerns that were voiced. Also noticed some css changes checked in by Ben for spacing etc. 0.9.1 should be a good one indeed :)

Well I just downloaded a 0.9 branch build with the new icons from BEAST (not a 0.9.1 build though)

all the new versions of the icons are much better thanks! I especially like the new page and folder icons, nice! Winstripe is coming along! I still notice one problem though that annoys me which was there in the previous Winstripe version too.

I always like the tabs showing even if only one tab is open. So I always uncheck "Hide the tab bar when only one website is open"

Have that unchecked, close the browser and reopen it. You'll now see one tab already open (if not, open a second tab, THEN close the browser, after opening it again you should see a tab) Now, navigate to a website in that tab and middle-click on a link to open a new tab next to the current one. Notice the tab bar seems to move a few pixels? This doesn't happen in other themes like Qute, I hope it gets fixed :) Otherwise Winstripe is not a bad theme and I look forward to all new developments.

Yes, much much better!! Cool to see the authors taking suggestions from the community.
Congrats to them, this will one day be a great theme (it already is becoming one).

Are we going to be able to see this soon on the themes site to use with the milestone if we don't feel like upgrading yet? :)

Oh my, much better. As far as I can tell the back, forward, refresh, stop, and home buttons got redone. They look great. Clean, yet more XPish. I'd like to see that get done with the rest of the buttons. Much improved.

why am i the only one who likes this first (0.9) version of winstripe! i really think it's better than this "improved" one.

will there be any way to continue using this original winstripe appearance?

i like both looks about equally, which is more than most other themes. the old look reminded me a lot of blue curve, the new look reminds me of qnx. both are wonderful icon sets.

Turn It Down, hope you don't mind. Seemed easier to just link to it :) Thanks for getting it so early.

Can I just ask why there was an X on the windows version of the stop anyway? It seems that it would be fine without the X and I think it would look better with the other icons...

The OSX one doesn't and IMHO it looks better.

I posted a screenie on the FF general board's sticky titled "0.9.1 coming" in case any of you want to see it in full view.

Here's a piece of criticism though, there needs to be less spacing between the buttons. I don't know why they didn't fix this.

I used lordmedikits' enhancement to get the spacing right, by the way, in case you guys see my picture and wonder why it looks good on my screenshot.

Ahh much better a definite improvement overall.

Though the original Winstripe was starting to grow on me when using Bewmans DogmaX skin for Windowblinds, but that was the only place.
