Can't Stay Logged In To Mozillazine

I wasn't quite sure where to post this, sorry if this is the wrong category.

I haven't been able to remain logged in to Mozillazine using Firefox for a few days now, in fact, I'm using Chrome (Slimjet) to post this. I can remain logged in using Chrome and don't get the warning that the connection is not secure like I do in FF.

Let me be more specific: I can log in after a number of attempts - it does take 5 or 6 attempts before it actually logs me in - but the second I go to a post, I get logged out.

I also can't get to my user control panel or to view my posts without getting logged out.

I know there was maintenance back in April, and I recall there were some log in issues then.

Anyway, I wanted to bring this to your attention.

Any idea when this will be fixed?

Logout and clear all mozillaZine.org cookies then login with http://forums.mozillazine.org/ucp.php?mode=login and not https:// as the https:// tend to have logout issues since the new admin implemented it a while back. Make sure the [v] Log me on automatically each visit is checked. I still do get logged out on occasion though.

The new admin tried to update the forum software on April 11 but it had even more login and moderation issues so it was reverted back a couple days later.

There is a test forum forums-staging.mozillazine.org based on a backup up to April 13 of this forum where he has been working on fixing login and other issues. On the staging site you stay logged in on https:// but not on http://

I went to the link in the first sentence, I can log in, but can't stay logged in. I did clear cookies again, still doesn't work.

I went back to using the bookmark I have always used, it seems to be working for this session. This is the link that hasn't worked in a couple days.

I was able to log in to: http://forums-staging.mozillazine.org and stay logged in without any problems.

I'll keep you updated.

Spoke too soon - I can log in and stay logged in with SlimJet, not Firefox.

My neither my usual bookmark - https:// nor http:// works in Firefox now, cleared cookies before each attempt, it'll log in, but not stay logged in.

Don't believe the OP ever CHK'd the -- Log Me in Automatically - Box (per James notation), so his issues occurred ....

I visited Both -- James 1st Sentence Link -- AND the --Staging site (saw HTTPS) -- and then had the Many Log-OFF attempts James mentioned for HTTPS AND my original HTTP login too.
BUT NOW my -- Top Site Shtcut for This Forum shows -- HTTP -- in the URL setup BUT takes me to HTTPS -- Every Time. EDIT: Forgot I just recently Chk'd -- Enable HTTPS in All Windows -- and Uninstalled the Addon, but it's odd that the Addon allowed the Shtcut's designated HTTP site.
Is THIS a known result and / or Does it matter?
I Could have sworn I saw HTTP when I first logged in with the Same Top Site Shtcut.
Fix IF it matters?

are you using the "cookie autodelete" browser-extension? if so, that could be causing the problem by way of deleting the mozillazine forum cookies.

also, it sounds like you need to update your bookmark for the mozillazine forum to where it uses the "https" link, not the "http" link.

i am not seeing a problem with staying logged in to the forum.

Costark, I did, I always check "log me in automatically" and have cleared cookies since this started, sometime last week.

It is hit or miss - for this session, I just hit the link in my email, it allowed me to log in and now stay logged in.

This is the https:// URL, not the http:// URL.

BTW, I have "don't enable HTTPS" in my settings, just in case that is an issue.

Should I have that checked?

No automatic cookie delete extensions of any kind, don't delete cookies on exit.

My bookmark is the HTTPS URL, updated a while ago.

https://forums.mozillazine.org has the logout problems but not http://forums.mozillazine.org

This forum has always been http://forums.mozillazine.org as https:// was not implemented until about December 23, 2021 and after that the forum then had login/logout issues.

EDIT 6/5/22: With Enable HTTPS in All Windows I cannot get to HTTP EVEN WITH Two Exceptions to Allow it - BUT - HTTPS NOW Works perfectly.
I NOW can LogOFF and ON with No issues whereas just prior there WAS a LogOFF issue.
Wondering IF James statement about HTTPS LogOFFs Still is true for HIM....

James, anyone, in Privacy/ Enable HTTPS in All Windows I SEE TWO Exceptions showing HTTP strings -- Status OFF -- yet the Forum Shtcut showing HTTP still Opens -- HTTPS.
CookieAutoDelete shows 3 Gray-listed expressions for all items showing......
Is THAT a Glitch? .... Recommendations (ie) For tpaulr & Me .... How big a deal is it to Not Chk -- Enable HTTPS in All Windows?

Odd occurrence as I clicked on the email link (I use Thunderbird) to respond to this thread, and that is, the URL is the HTTPS link.

However, using the new bookmark from the link James mentioned, above, it is the HTTP URL. I can tell because I get the warning that the connection is not secure and I get the red line through the lock.

Both of them seem to be working this morning, I can log in and it keeps me logged in with no issues...

I am adding my experience to this thread as it is relevant but the problem of retaining my login is failing every time when I try and start a new thread. The problem is very alienating since it has not been resolved in weeks.

I solved my problem and was able to post a thread only by using a windoze system on a laptop. None of my openSUSE Linux systems will work with the Mozillazine site. Please can you get this bug fixed.

whats windows got to do with it? nothing wont matter what OS you use . just tick the BOX { } remember Me

either that or dont use HTTPS , use HTTP instead
