Disable "Empty Trash" command on right click

Post by jkister »

TB 2.0.0.19, WinXPsp3

When I right-click the Trash folder of my imap account, "Mark Folder Read" and "Empty Trash" are right next to each other.

For the second time, I accidentally clicked "Empty Trash", when I meant "Mark Folder Read". I had to restore my trash from backup.

I have a cron running on my imap server that manages my trash for me (archives it by year, by month). I never want to "Empty Trash".

Is there a way to disable this in the MUA? Or at least prompt for confirmation ?

There might be an extension that can do what you seek. This page is a good place to start regarding extensions for Thunderbird.

It does not require an extension. You can make the menu items disappear by using userChrome.css. This example removes it from both the context menu and the main File menu:

Code: Select all

#folderPaneContext-emptyTrash, #menu_emptyTrash {visibility: collapse;}

Thanks for the confirmation, but why bump such an old thread?
